The modern worker wants a laptop lifestyle

With the rapid growth of the HR technology industry, enterprise users have a wide range of productivity tools available to enhance the well-being and engagement of their workforce.

Given the abundance of choices available, HR and IT leaders may wonder how they can guarantee that their technology stack perfectly aligns with the needs of their employees.

According to enterprise tech specialist Hire Intelligence, there seems to be a widespread issue regarding the quality and appropriateness of the equipment that employees are given.

Is it suitable for the intended use?

Despite the enthusiasm of tech enthusiasts promoting digital innovation, a mere 43% of surveyed employees from Hire Intelligence expressed satisfaction with their office computer, considering it truly “fit for purpose.”

In addition, approximately two-thirds of employees believe that a significant portion of the IT hardware their companies invest in is quickly becoming obsolete or outdated.

“There is a significant amount of capital being wasted that could be better utilized by reallocating it towards acquiring the latest versions of laptops, workstations, tablets, and AV displays, specifically for projects that require such hardware,” according to the findings.

Practical and portable office devices are highly sought after by workers.

According to Hire Intelligence, their survey revealed that a significant number of people expressed a strong desire for laptops, specifically office laptops, as they believed it would greatly enhance their work life. In fact, 38% of the respondents indicated this preference. After laptops, there was a growing demand for wireless charging points and tablets.

The selection meets the increasing need of workers to embrace flexible work in a dynamic environment.

According to the research, the availability of high-performance laptops with impressive processing capabilities and spacious screens has made it possible for professionals in various fields, such as accountants and developers, to work from any location of their preference.

“By enabling a ‘laptop lifestyle’ and offering flexible working hours, employers could reap the rewards of having more engaged and motivated staff, while also enjoying significant cost savings,” stated Hire Intelligence.

Investing in top-notch technology is not the sole answer to ensuring the modern worker remains motivated. A significant portion of employees nowadays are interested in acquiring new skills.

The researchers stated that providing employees with advanced technology and the necessary training will undoubtedly enhance productivity and boost employee satisfaction.

According to their observations, employees are increasingly seeking flexible working arrangements, versatile tools, and remote work options. The laptop lifestyle has become increasingly appealing, as workers are seeking office technology that enables them to work remotely.
